I just wanted to say a big thanks to Ted for running the subject and to everyone who contributed so effectively throughout the semester. I enjoyed it immensely and learnt a great deal. Best of luck to everyone.
Hi Fran. I agree with Sue. Your tutorial was clearly presented and easy to understand and gave me more insight in to social bookmarking than I had before (I’d previously created a tag cloud using delicio.us and embedded it in my blog from the subject Flexible Learning Environments under the title My Delicio.us Tags, but that’s as far as I got with Social Bookmarking). I’ll be adding the articles you’ve included to my blog. Thanks
Well done.
Great tutorial Ben! I love this application. i can see it being used in a variety of subjects across all learning areas and ages; in Geography the work could…

Thanks Julian. I knew nothing about ExitReality before doing this tutorial. It definitely highlights the potential…
Based on a discussion in the OET Subject Blog between Sue, Tim and Fran about role reversals in chat rooms, I thought I’d add the video that all parties referred to, and Fran included a link to, in my blog as well.
Julian Parkin has reviewed a range of free online Learning Management Systems on his blog. I’ve decided to add links to many of these under the Resource heading in my blog. Julian has provided a much more in depth explanation of each of these on his blog.
Some of the resources Julian has listed include, but are not exclusive to:
Moodle (This is also referred to in the post: Moodle on Sue’s Blog, on my blog).
As tutorials are uploaded to the Subject Wiki, I thought I’d continue to add to the extravaganza of links on this blog. You can find the tutorials under the heading, Assignment 1 Tutorials.
Sue, Matt and Bill are currently considering conducting assignment 2 on Moodle, the open-source LMS. You can find more information on Sue’s Blog in the post: What is Moodle?. I took an immediate interest in this entry because UCMS, where I work is revieweing Moodle as an alternative to our current LMS – and a lot less expensive.
I replied to a comment on the discussion board: Session 5 what is the difference between LMS and a wiki Do we need to know how to make a webpage in online learning? led by Ted and Richard around the themes of wikis being more relevant than web design now. I arrived at the conclusion that as long as the desired learning outcome is arrived at, in my mind anyway, it didn’t really matter what strategies were used – what digital tools were employed; and that rather than determine which tools are more relvant or obsolete that it would make much more sense to ask a different set of questions about the best combination of approaches.
I tried to find a web design versus wiki You Tube video but didn’t have much luck. Instead I thought I’d add a simple video about Wetpaint, an open source wiki that I’ve employed at UCMS Academy for the last 4 months, and now has 50 members. If you are interested in having a look at what we’ve done, please leave your email address in the comments and I’ll invite you as a restricted member.
